Cinematic Idiot
(Warren)

"Alright take your seats now"
Barry says to his 6th grade class
Though at 12 years old their indifference is
something that he can't break

"Pencils down, I guess you can go,
Since no one really did the assignment
Was it really that hard to read
"Then Again Maybe I Won't"?

He writes to the folks back home:

"These damn kids with their TV screens
I don't know why I even bother to reach out to them
In the end I know this life will be the death of me,
Just like everyone else."

Just like everyone else

Barry stops at the local video store
Where the customers come and go
Where the lesson plan is to think of
Which terrible film to play in the store

He slumps into his piano
wipes the dust off the ebony
Takes a drink and plays the first few bars
of "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road"

It's comforting

He could be in the hall of fame
If he could figure out why its so damn hard to care
Maybe He's just a cinematic idiot
Then again, Maybe Not."

He writes to the folks back home:

"I could be in the hall of fame
If I could figure out why its so damn hard to care
Maybe I'm just a cinematic idiot
Then again, Maybe Not."
